disney give a day get a day promotion
Most Scout troops perform a great deal of Community Service. Whether it’s a group effort repairing trails or a single Scout’s donation of labor to a non-profit, Scouts surely account for a significant portion of the service in any community.
Disney has decided to honor that service with a free ticket to either Disneyland or Disney World. The service has to be pre-registered and is limited to the organizations that they have vetted and made reporting agreements with. There are a few different organizations around Kitsap County, though most of the opportunities revolve around Habitat for Humanity. For those troops that haven’t set their 2010 calendars in stone, this may be a good planning opportunity. (Dare I say that it would be a good publicity opportunity as well?) The overwhelming majority of opportunities are available to those 16 and older, but if you’re willing to travel a little, there are opportunities for the younger ones as well.
* Every member of the household over age 6 is eligible (it’s not just a Scout promotion, it’s for all volunteers), up to a total of 8. Sorry, minimum age to volunteer is 6.
* One ticket per person, up to a million given away.
* Must pre-register and get approval before performing the service. Adults must register, but can register all members of their household.
* Valid through December 15, 2010. Some blackout dates apply.
Who’s up for a road trip?
Note for military families: Check with your MWR office. Disney’s Armed Force Salute has been extended through 2010. It’s a 4-day pass for $99 (sorry, no freebie for the serviceman this year).
