Skating

The skating badge has a lot of requirements. If you’ve been skating for awhile, learning a few new tricks will probably be all you need. If you’re starting from scratch, it might take you awhile. There are three options: roller (quad), inline, and ice.

If you want to try the roller rink option, Skateland in Bremerton has sessions as inexpensively as $1 ($1 extra for inline). The best thing, though, is that the skate coach is a former Life Scout and Asst. Scoutmaster! Richard Jandszinski (”Ski”) teaches at 10 on Saturday mornings. If you bring your blue card and the printout of requirements, he will work worth you, teaching you directly to the requirements. If you don’t already skate, it might take you a few Saturdays, but where else are you going to get semi-private lessons for less than an arm and a leg? You can also set up a troop skate with Skateland. 479-7655

Sk8 Town (Port Orchard) also offers Scout parties.
