Scouting Heritage

Note: This badge has not yet been released, but from the chatter on the net, it appears it’s going to be released between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is a list of *preliminary* requirements, for planning purposes. I know there are some of you who like to plan well in advance! Information taken from many sources, especially the Innovation Engine

Scouting Heritage Merit Badge (NOT the official version… yet)

baden-powell1. Write an essay about one of the Founders of Scouting. Make a presentation about the origin of Scouting to a non-Scout group such as a Church or civic organization.
2. Learn about Careers in Scouting.
3. Exchange letters with a Scout in another Scout Council.
4. Learn about the World Scouting Organization.
5. Conduct an interview with a Veteran Scouter. (Try one of the “veterans” in the Sinclair District! Their emails are on the bottom of the page.)
6. Meet a Scouting Professional. Combine this with Req 7.
7. Visit your Scout Council Headquarters. (You might be closer to Pac Harbors [19th St exit in Tacoma]. Clear this with your MBC first.)
8. Learn about the BSA’s Adventure Bases.
9. Attend a District Rountable or District Meeting. ORCA roundtables are held second Thursdays at 7:00 pm at Silverdale Lutheran. Contact Jim Sutton for more info. Sinclair roundtables are held second Thursdays at 7:00 pm at First Christian Church, Port Orchard. More info from Richard Rock.
10. Make a display of Scouting information and material for your community to be open to the public for at least one week. The one week requirement here can make it difficult. If your church is Scout-friendly, they may let you do a bulletin board display. You might also check with your local library.

Again, this is provided for PLANNING PURPOSES only. It’s not yet an official badge.
