David’s Virtual Merit Badge Sash
David is a Seattle Council Eagle Scout who is planning to work toward getting all the merit badges available. Positive peer pressure can be a good thing when it spurs the boys to give that extra effort. The competition is not necessarily against other Scouts; but, like a marathon, a goal against yourself. For some, the journey to Eagle with its 21 badges will be plenty. Others choose different paths. One of the beauties of Scouting is that each Scout can make his own decision (within Scout rules) which badges he wants to work on and how many he wants to complete.
MeritBadgeKnot.com is keeping a registry of those Scouts who have pursued and attained this goal — so far, there are 110. That’s 110 in the entire history of Boy Scouts. Is it something you might like to try? Maybe you would like to encourage David in his goal, or work alongside him.
