Scouting Alternatives
Boy Scouts of America is not for everyone. It’s a private group that sets its own joining requirements. If your beliefs and lifestyle do not conform to the stated mission of the BSA, you might find these groups a better fit:
Campfire USA – Co-ed group for K-12 “that encourages kids to develop skills based on their own interests and abilities.” Find your local group here: Kitsap, Mason.
Contenders for the Faith – Independent Christian groups under the KOF umbrella.
Earth Scouts – “Earth Scouts is an inclusive, co-educational scouting program, in which facilitators provide a cooperative learning environment for future community leaders and change agents seeking sustainability, equity and nonviolence.” Find your local ES here.
Royal Rangers – “We will EVANGELIZE, EQUIP, and EMPOWER the next generation of Christlike men and lifelong servant leaders.” Distinctly Christian group. Find your local RR here.
Spiral Scouts – Co-ed, based on minority-religions, but inclusive and purposefully tolerant of all beliefs and lifestyles. Find your local Circle here.
