Eagle Donations

We live in a generous community. Even when times are tight, there are businesses and individuals willing to help you complete your Eagle project. These companies understand the benefit of not only the Scouting program, but the merits of the projects themselves.

Some Scouts hold fundraisers; others solicit donations. Both are acceptable methods. Remember that a donation is just that — it is not obligated, not to be expected, and not to be taken for granted. Please remember to write thank-you notes, and to be appropriately appreciative.

Companies and individuals donating to your Eagle Project are donating to the non-profit organization that your project benefits. They are not making a donation to the Boy Scouts. Make sure to have a copy of the organization’s 501(c)3 authorization to include with each letter.

Here are some local businesses who have given to Eagle projects in the past. That doesn’t mean they can or will in the future; many factors affect a business’ ability to give away that which otherwise could be sold. It is our hope that by posting them here that Life Scouts will have a place to begin, and that the businesses are recognized as helping the community through Scouting. A huge “Thank you!” is due them. Please let us know if you are aware of others who ought to be listed. (While believed correct, information has not necessarily been verified.)

Fred Meyer, Port Orchard: There is a donation form at the customer service desk. Fill it out completely and return it. The information must be from the non-profit organization. Donations are made in gift-card form, to be used to purchase the materials for the project.

Home Depot, Silverdale: Bring project description and letter (on letterhead) to the store. They will review it and see where they are able to help.

Lowe’s, Port Orchard: Donates ~$1000/yr to community projects, divided monthly. Turn in your request on the first day of the month, if possible.

Lowe’s, Silverdale: Donations through the corporate office; must be done well in advance.

Mitchell Lumber, Belfair: Donates generously to local projects. Bring a list of items so they can give you an estimate.

Scott McLendon’s Hardware, Belfair: Case-by-case evaluation for local projects.

Vaughn Bay Lumber, Vaughn: Has donated lumber and wood products for construction.
