Sunrise Equine Rescue

Looking for a really interesting service project, or community service hours?

sunriseweb01 Sunrise Equine RescueSunrise Equine Rescue in Grapeview (near Mason Lake) is a sanctuary for horses with no place to go. Though it’s neatly kept, a farm always has extra chores!

Scouts can put in as few or as many hours as they choose. Chores range from simple trash pickup to mucking stalls to grooming the horses, so there is something for every age or ability level.

sunriseweb02 Sunrise Equine RescueSunrise will also work with Scouts for the Animal Science merit badge — you’ll need to use your own merit badge counselor, but the stable manager will teach to the requirements (Horse option, of course!). Or, trade your hours toward instruction for Horsemanship. It’s what Erin does for a living, and she is happy to help the boys with the non-riding portions in exchange for chores. Because it is her living, the riding portion is available at her normal rate of $35/hr.

Contact Erin at (360)275-2960.
