Fort Flagler (Jefferson County)

Fort FlaglerFort Flagler is open for camping Mar 1 – Nov 1, and is especially good in the summer. On the tip of Marrowstone Island, you can see Port Townsend to one side and, on a clear day, Whidbey on the other. Camp right on the beach, with plenty of trails and gun batteries for exploration. Check with the ranger to arrange a service project as partial payment for camp fees.

There’s an interesting museum, and plenty of room for boys to roam. Campsites have firepits and there are pits on the beach as well. It can get very windy, so be certain to bring layers, even in summer.
